Forged and welded shell construction for structural durability

The SD16 double flange track roller uses left and right shell sections that are individually forged, machined, and then joined by automatic circumferential seam welding. The mounting brackets are produced through casting, providing a stable base that resists deformation under continuous load. This combined forging and welding process produces a roller body with consistent wall thickness and uniform material density, avoiding the porosity and internal voids that can occur in single-piece castings. The result is a roller that maintains its roundness and structural integrity through extended service in heavy pushing and ripping applications.

Floating seal and metal bushing system for reliable lubrication

The roller incorporates a floating seal ring assembly that maintains a consistent grease barrier between the rotating body and the stationary shaft. This seal design prevents the entry of fine abrasive particles, water, and mud that would otherwise contaminate the oil chamber and accelerate internal wear. A high wear-resistant bimetallic bushing is fitted between the hub and the roller shaft, providing a stable bearing surface that maintains proper clearance as the roller rotates. The oil chamber is filled with a specified gear oil to ensure smooth rotation and consistent lubrication across the full service interval.
