Precision Forged Body for Structural Density and Impact Resistance
The XE215C carrier roller is manufactured using a one-piece integral forging process rather than casting. Forging eliminates internal porosity, loose grain structure, and hidden shrinkage cavities that are common in cast rollers. This results in a roller body with uniform material density and consistent mechanical properties across the entire cross-section. Under the repeated impact loads generated during excavation and travel on fragmented ground, the forged body resists cracking and deformation more effectively than a cast alternative. The structural integrity of the forged body ensures that the roller maintains its roundness and alignment throughout its service life, preventing track misalignment and uneven chain wear.
Medium-Frequency Induction Hardened Tread for Abrasion Resistance
The tread surface of this carrier roller undergoes medium-frequency induction quenching, producing a hardened layer with a depth of 6–9 mm and a surface hardness range of HRC 53–59. This hardening profile is specifically matched to the wear characteristics of medium-duty excavator operation, where the track chain continuously rubs against the tread under load. The hardened layer resists abrasive wear from soil, gravel, and rock fragments, while the tough core absorbs the bending and impact forces transmitted through the roller. This combination of a hard surface and a tough core extends the service interval before replacement is required.
Tin Bronze Bushing for Smooth Rotation and Low Friction
A thickened tin bronze bushing is fitted between the roller body and the shaft. Tin bronze offers a low coefficient of friction against hardened steel, allowing the roller to rotate smoothly even under heavy radial loads. The material also has good embeddability, meaning that if fine abrasive particles manage to enter the bearing area, they become embedded in the softer bronze rather than scoring the shaft surface. This protects the shaft from damage and maintains consistent rotation. The bushing is designed to provide a stable bearing surface over an extended service life with regular maintenance.
